‘THE VERY LAST PATCHWORK PUMPKIN’
Archive piece from my previous brand Hyde SK which was based in East London.
Hyde SK was sold in Japan, USA and GoodHood London.
This particular piece was from 2008.
The Patchwork Pumpkin’ was cut from buttery soft leather in a mix of liquorice black, caramel tan and pale grey. This style is very special to me and the pattern cutting alone to create it almost gave me a nervous breakdown. I produced these Patchwork Pumpkins over a couple of seasons in different colour combinations, this colour way was from the very first issue. Each Patchwork Pumpkin contains ‘194 hand cut’ pieces and took many MANY hours to cut, stitch together then all the quilting… geeez, it’s like a beautiful jigsaw and one I won’t ever repeat.. Some of the layered panels are designed to curl slightly with use giving it a totally unique silhouette.
Inside, the bag is lined in a deep kiwi green cotton and has a zippered pocket.
Riri zipper closure.
Detail- There is a double tassel with a hand-carved /oiled wooden button in the style of an antler slice, also a hand carved wooden Hyde SK guitar pic tag. Beads are glass and 925 silver, each silver nugget bead weighs 2.5g (An example of the bead detail is pictured as this Pumpkin has not yet had it’s bead detail attached)
Bag comes with a Hyde SK hand printed cotton dust bag.
Shoulder straps are soft padded leather and are adjustable by sliding the knots.
Soft shape and flat when empty but ‘approx’ dimensions when in use are: 36cm tall x 32cm wide x 32cm deep at base.
