Description
Handmade sterling silver and Sleeping Beauty turquoise Sun + wheel necklace.
Sleeping Beauty turquoise boasts a rich blue shade that’s clear and vibrant like the expansive skies of the American West. The stone is said to have acquired its name from the mountain where it was mined as it resembles a sleeping woman laying with arms crossed. This mine has unfortunately been closed to turquoise mining since august 2012 and therefore Sleeping Beauty turquoise is now very much sought after and pieces made with this stone will only gain in value.
The large Sleeping Beauty disc (approx 16mm in diameter) and the smaller irregular nuggets of Sleeping Beauty are from the 1960’s.
Pendant diameter 24mm.
The hand stamped wheel and shot bead represent motion and moving forward.
The necklace is sized to slip comfortably over the head and is strung on extra strong spun steel. The steel is so fine that the piece hangs naturally as if strung on silk. The small seed beads are handmade from recycled glass.
PACKING- Necklace comes in a wooden gift box featuring a Knight Mills original design.

All my silver pieces are very limited, should the item you choose be out of stock at the time of ordering please contact me to discuss options. As the stones and beads within this piece are natural and hand cut, please expect slight variation in shade and shape. Traditional jewellery making techniques are used to make all pieces- piercing, shaping, stamping, soldering, stone setting and polishing etc are all done by me and by hand. No mass made cookie cut production here. Each piece will be different to the next and this is what makes every piece unique. I have an ever changing supply of stones and therefore custom orders are possible. Prices vary due to the carat, type and rarity of the stone, also due to the amount and weight of sterling used in each piece.
Please check your string regularly to check for any wear. This stringing steel is very strong, but overtime this could start to wear and your piece will need restringing.
